All you Evo fans, your prayers have been answered. Mitsubishi has made up it's mind to import the unreal Evolution X perfromance sedan into India by early 2009. Mitsubishi had tested public opinion at the Delhi Auto Expo 2008 where the Evolution X drew a considerable crowd and a lot of queries on when the car would be launched in India. The Evolution X is the 9th generation model of what is considered to be one of the finest performance sedan in the world (some would say the Subaru WRX also ranks up there but i beg to differ).

The Evolution X has a 2 litre turbocharged petrol engine which belts out 295 bhp! In comparison the Mitsubishi Cedia 2 litre engine delivers only 115 bhp! This power is put down on the tarmac via the Evo X's most significant piece of high tech kit known as 'Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC). The magic begins with the most elaborate form of an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, which includes Active Center Differential (ACD), Active Yaw Control (AYC) and Active Stability Control (ASC). To this S-AWC adds active suspension, active braking control and active steering to enhance the Evo's AYC for quicker steering response and faster cornering speeds.
What all this geek talk means is that you can corner faster in the Evo X than most supercars and experience cornering G Force of more than 1.2 G. The sprint from 0-100 kmph is over in 4.5 seconds. The Evo X rides on 18 inch alloys which look simple superb.

From the outside the Evo X is one mean looking beast which looks fast even when parked still. On the inside, the cabin is all black with a great driver position and Recaro seats to hug you tight on fast bends which. Focus on the driver is evident everywhere including the three position switch on the steering wheeel that dials the center differential to different torque distribution settings for pavement, gravel and snow.

The Evolution X would be imported as a CBU and would thus cost about Rs. 23 lakh in India. That's still good value for a car that has such radical performance and cutting edge tech which we can use in Indian conditions. If you have the money, please buy this baby and then be kind enough to call me for a test drive and get it featured here ;)
