Audi is making giant strides across the world and in India too. Many call it the new BMW and it has certainly given the shivers to the German competition. After doling out discounts and zero interest finance on the outgoing A6 sedan model, the luxury car maker has now introduced the new Audi A6 in India to take on BMW's fabulous 5-Series and Mercedes's ageing E-Class. However, one would need a keen eye to figure out the differences between the outgoing model and this new one as it is only mildly refreshed and the primary differentiators are the head and tail lights. A completely new A6 is currently being worked upon by Audi and it may come to India by 2011.

What is new is the reworked single-frame grill, bumpers, air vents and fog lights. Continuing with the subtle yet elegant design theme, the new A6 now includes LED light at the front and rear with day time running lights feature as well. The new A6 also gets the new Audi Multi Media Interface system (MMI) which controls multiple functions of the car much like BMW's iDrive. The new A6's rear seats have also been modified and made more comfortable for those who like to ride at the back.

What is truly new are the engine options which now include the brilliant 3.0 TFSI apart from the 2.8 FSI, 3.0 TDI and 2.7 TDI motors. The cars go on sale across Audi's 12 dealerships in India from May 4th. The new A6 starts at Rs. 38,57,000 (ex-showroom Mumbai).
